Kanto has a different badge set if I'm not mistaken and badges give you stuff, depending where you are. The train ticket is reusable too so once you get it you're set.

As for the other part... have you figured out their favorite foods? That helps sometimes.

They listen to me for the most part. They just keep trying to fight each other. I may end up having to keep one in a ball.

I really have no suggestions. Some of mine fight, but I work them all hard enough they tend to keep off the aggression.
